Family Event National Day of Child Nov 22 Free!
Come celebrate National Day of the Child with Kids New West on Sunday Nov. 22nd at Centennial Community Centre from 1 to 3pm! Tony Prophet will entertain, and ‘Arts to go!’ from New West Arts Council will be there! We’ll have facepainting, bouncy castle, games, crafts, and a dance demonstration! See you there!

Free Capoeira Class Nov. 8
Capoeira is coming back to New Westminster – FREE Trial Class
Renowned instructor, Graduado Rasta Raspado of Abada Capoeira Vancouver, is coming back to New Westminster. Formerly teaching out of Ammara Dance Studio when the studio was on 6th St, Raspado will be teaching this new program at ZHOOSH Fitness Garage at #110-131 11th St. For those of you who have never tried Capoeira, there will be a FREE trial class at 11am – 12noon on Sunday, Nov 8 at ZHOOSH Fitness Garage. (Returning capoeira students are asked to pay a drop-in fee of $12-kids, $15-adults.) For ages 7 and up. Capoeira is not only a combination of gymnastics, dance and martial arts but of music, culture, history and knowledge.

In October, we collected input from the community through an online survey and a Healthy Schools Stakeholder Engagement Brunch.

Nobody’s Perfect Parenting Program at Family Place
There are no perfect parents, or perfect children or perfect people. We can only do our best, and we all need help once in a while.
Meet with other parents of young children from newborn to 5 years of age; share questions, concerns and ideas about being a parent; learn about child development, safety, health and behaviour; discuss real-life parenting situations; work together with the support of a trained facilitator; discover positive ways of parenting.
