Rainbow Loom Roundup

Rainbow Loom ears!
Rainbow Loom ears!

Oh my gosh we love Rainbow Loom at our house. Do you Loom?

Just like my love of Perler Beads as a craft for my son, Rainbow Loom is a wonderful activity that promotes pattern recognition, fine motor skills, and creativity. I found this blog post with the Top Five Reasons Why Rainbow Loom is Great for Kids which you should definitely go and read, but the list is that Rainbow Loom helps develop handwriting, helps develop an appreciation for giving, promotes spatial and patterning skills, builds confidence and gives hours of focused fun.

Here’s a roundup of some of our favourite Rainbow Loom resources Online:

Loom Band It! I picked up this project book from the local bookstore and it has just enough projects to get us up and running. We have come back to a few of the charms, like the present and the strawberry, and this book has proven to be useful. I have seen a few books from Scholastic that are pattern books, but this one seems much bigger and fuller than them. Definitely recommend it.

YouTube – a quick search of “Rainbow Loom Tutorials” lists a huge amount of YouTubers who have channels dedicated specifically to tutorials. It is awesome there is so much to share!

Pinterest – just like on YouTube there are a lot of amazing images out there with patterns and ideas. I started a Pinterest board to keep some patterns in mind for when we are faced with an afternoon with no plans.

Supplies – I’ve found supplies on sale in all sorts of places, from bookstores to Michaels, and I tend to when I see them on sale. For specific supplies, Mastermind Toys is a good place to buy online as they are a Canadian company.

Where do you get your Rainbow Loom stuff?
