Textile Recycling Supports School Food and Nutrition Programs

As you start to go through your closets to get ready for the winter weather, don’t forget about the School District No. 40’s Textile Recycling Program. Flyer: Recycle Bins Nov 2012

This is a great opportunity to clean out dressers, drawers and linen closets of all used and unwanted clothing and textiles, and drop them off in our big blue bins. Donated textiles do not even need to be wearable, as everything received is recycled.

Our Student Services department is working in partnership with Trans-Continental Textile Recycling Ltd., to operate the program, and there is absolutely no cost to the school district to participate. The district gets paid based on the weight of the textiles donated to each bin and your support will help provide Food and Nutrition Programs and Supports for our students.

The big blue bins are located at:

Lord Tweedsmuir Community School – 1714 Eighth Avenue
Lord Kelvin Community School – 1010 Hamilton Street
Queensborough Middle School – 833 Salter Street
École Glenbrook Middle School – 701 Park Crescent
